The Great Commission starts at home...

The Price of Being the Answer to Jesus’ Prayer

November 20, 2016

As Jesus prayed for us in John 17:23, He said ” I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me.”

I think it would be over ambitious to try to unpack the meaty truths in this passage in this post but I would like to highlight two things.

First, Jesus is in us to make us perfectly one with one another. The other point is that the world will know Jesus is real and that God loves them when they see believers who are in right relationship with God and with one another.

Scripture doesn’t say the world is going to believe because your church is doing really cool stuff or because your church has great theology or even because you go evangelize.  They will know because you and I die a thousand deaths to self and allow God to put us together (in fellowship) with other dead men walking.

Would it not be powerful for us to have perfect unity in our marriages, in our homes and in our churches?

The Great Commission; as found in Matthew 28:18-20 is the “how” and the Acts 2:42 (unity of the believers) reality that Jesus prays for in; John 17:23, is the “what” that we are called to become together.

I offer to you an invitation that I’ve offered to hundreds of believers and dozens of churches over the past sixteen years:  Are you ready; is your church family ready to join in a discipleship journey that will kill you so He can live?

If so, message me; we need to talk.

Loving God and loving others as we love ourselves is not complicated though it is costly.

I love you and hope to hear from you.

Blessings my friends.  Kendrix
